Reading in IBD this week about major retailers finally catching on to internet marketing - "change or die". AVON (I say as a rep.) has frustrated the crap out of a lot of its representatives for not making the most of internet marketing and insisting on keeping to the old ways that worked 40 years ago.
They started by giving reps online stores. Eventually, they let us have blogs on our store. However, they blew it by putting limitations on our posts, making posting really good stuff nearly impossible.
Over the past couple months AVON has been trying to rebuild the company and join the 21st century. One change is the way Districts operate. Each District has a facebook page for team building. Wow. What an impressive move. But, once again AVON missed the mark by by-passing Google+, which far surpasses FB for communication and team building.
FB wasn't designed for companies to connect with their team, Google+ is. You can hold regular team meet-ups by creating a hangout where everyone chats through webcams. Seeing the team beats seeing text any day. Leaders can use it for daily, weekly, bi-weekly for training, encouragement, and motivation. Reps can also use it for the same. Instead, AVON is still holding on to its archaic tradition of meeting in person or don't meet at all, so Google+ and it's advantages are irrelevant.
Anyway, will the new system work if AVON leaders refuse to make the most of what's out there? eh...maybe...but not near as effectively, and most likely not at all.
Perhaps some day they'll get real leaders in there who know what they're doing, and know how to use social media to their advantage.
Until then...well...good luck with that.

Today was absolute proof that I don't function well on rainy days - I accomplished nothing - just like yesterday (it was raining). So, from here out raining days will be for dungeon crawling. : )
Off to work on my Camp Nano novel! Good nite y'all!

Thanks, Dougie! Nothing like the smell of wet fur rubbing against your back in the morning. : )
It's raining today and my garden is growing by leaps and bounds. Peas and corn are in the lead, with speghetti squash coming in third. Everything else is pretty much doing their own thing.
Picked up some more seeds yesterday at Walmart (Gallipolis):
- eggplant
- corn salad (anyone ever had it?)
- beets
- roma tomatoes
- zucchini
- straightneck squash (yellow squash)
Think I'm gonna need more top soil. : )
Heading off to daven and write up a couple new product reviews:
- Shark Steamer
- Wonderwash non-electric vs Wonderwash electric
Catch y'all later!

Loving the liberal hate speech towards NC for having morals and banning same sex marriages. I think they've called them every name in the book and have probably set a new all-time record for using the "f" word.
Naturally, leading the way in calling NC'ers a bunch of "bleeping" bigots are actors. Yes, those lovely dears who thrive on accepting all things liberal and launching verbal assaults (with vulgar language to boot) on everyone who don't agree with their low standards, are really having a go on twitter.
For the record, the one's I'm watching happen to be athiests. No surprise there.

Good mornin' to ya! : )
Really excited. My new and improved Wonderwash comes this morning. So cool. Later, my "hurry up and get here" bug spray is coming from Avon. *whew* Which reminds me, if you need insect repellant that also has sunscreen, Avon's got it all for 1/2 price this campaign. click here to buy and make me smile. : ) (PS: My fave is the disappearing blue.)
Big project of the day is making the dog pen cat escape proof. Chuckie is spending most of his days in the big dog cage because he won't stop attacking everyone. So, today I'm gonna try and make the dog pen cat escape proof so I can chuck him in there. He'll have a ton of room to play in. Hopefully, my plan will work.
Other cool things for the day: product review for the Wrinkle; Rashi site, and a new blog post at Nature Nerd.
Have a great day, y'all! : )

Beautiful morning! Nigella came running up the yard for breakfast, and then left just a bit ago in search of a mate. I'm still looking around for someone who raises turkeys to see if they'd like to sell a tom. I'd love to see her have a little brood. Yes, I know, she's not my turkey, but hey - she's lonely. And you know she's really having a lonely day when she chooses to hang out with the cats. LOL
Super busy day ahead. I made a muck of the office and kitchen so it'd force me to clean it up. I've got a lot of chucking to do.
Gotta call Termitico today. The cottage is being overrun by carpenter ants again. Total mess.
Anyway, off to finish my tea and daven. Catch y'all later! *poof goes the yobee*

We're back under another Flash Flood Watch until 6:00 tomorrow morning. I noticed this morning when I got back from town that the creek was rising. Dang thing. Hope it stays where it is. *pout*

Good morning! Here's a little wake up thought. obduma wants us to have a road tax, so we're charged for every mile we drive. odorka got the idea from England. How does the tax affect Brits? I was just on someone's facebook page and they wanted to go to the Collectorama (geek convention where you can get your pic and an autograph from your fave geek stars) in London. One of the girls said she's been 4 times, but can't go this year because she can't afford the road tax.
Think about the many ways a stupid road tax would affect us:
vacations?
Driving to work? (I have a friend whose husband drives 40 miles to work - one way. High cost of gas. Road tax. Bye paycheck.)
Taking your kids to school?
Going to shul or church?
Going out to eat?
Concerts?
Conventions?
Kid learning how to drive?
Got any addictions to the list?

These are all the things you find out when you don't check your email enough. My WSAZ email collection for the night:
6:33 - Tornado Watch
8:36 - Flash Flood Watch
7:34 on - Severe Thunderstorm Warning
I guess I should check my email more often.
PS: Add two more ticks to the collection for the day. That's 7 ticks.
